The Chalkboard

Client Intro

The Chalkboard is an independently run Tea Room and Bistro situated inside the Key Theatre in Peterborough. The restaurant hosts various events, themed pre-theatre dinners and their popular ‘pick your own’ afternoon tea.

The Problem

The Chalkboard came to Echo with no online presence and no ability to book online. With the physical restaurant based slightly off the high-street, the brief was clear: to create a website that attracts customers and showcases appealing imagery of the venue, food and menus.

The Solution

For this brief, we created a simple website on WordPress that has The Chalkboard’s unique brand identity at its core. With regular updates to the menu, events or pages, it was important to select a user-friendly content management system for the client, such as WordPress. The site includes social media integration, a booking form, gift card purchasing and an image gallery.

To ensure the website could be found online, our team boosted presence through local SEO and full conversion tracking with Google Tag Manager.

The Outcome

Perfect for the target audience, the user-friendly website is simplistic and fast-loading with key call-to-actions for menus and special event information. The design is visually appealing and has allowed for The Chalkboard’s imagery to shine through, encouraging new bookings.
